Clare Education Centre is responsible for in-service training for all 140 schools in Co. Clare at both Primary and Post Primary Level. The in-service is delivered in a variety of ways – these include day release for teachers, evening classes and on-line resources. The Centre has been involved in many EU-projects and currently hosts 2 projects on its website –

In addition to its in-service remit the Centre is the National Administrative Centre for the School Leadership Progranmme, The Maths Recovery Programme and the Leaving Cert Applied Programme.  These programmes are run nationally at suitable venues by the staff of the Centre

The Centre has a long tradition in developing the use of ICT in schools within its catchment area. In the year 2000, Ennis was designated as Irelands “Information Age Town” after it won a national competition to select a town for intensive ICT investment. This led to a rapid increase in the use of ICT in the area and a much improved infrastructure. Clare Education Centre was central to the training of teachers and schools from 2000 onwards. Schools in the area are well advanced in the use of Web 2 tools and on-line learning  , more especially since the provision of 100 mg broadband to all Post Primary schools. Schools in the area use a wide variety of devices both traditional and more recently tablets, phones and other mobile devices. We have gained much valuable experience through the Information Age Town project and  we believe that the Centre is well placed  to bring this expertise to a wider European audience through the Erasmus programme.

Personnel at  Clare Education Centre have many years experience of running Projects and making appropriate arrangements for conferences.
